BALDÍA

The Baldía project is a series of  videocamera and voice concerts taking place in situations  and spaces where a concert is not institutionalized, using that specific space to reinforse or bring new meaning to a song by the effect of meaning resonance and feedback.
The aim is to transform the location in a kind of fantasy place where the song tells a posible story about the place.
Some basic cuestions Baldía is trying to answer are:
What is the effect of singing a X song in a X place?
How to combine the story of the song with the story of the place?
Is this kind of singing a "live music concert"?
How do people will react when the concert is not spected?

KLAPPERFELD

In the case of the Baldía planed for Klapperfeld I recorded "Mi dicha lejana" (My faraway bliss or My faraway happiness) a  1941 guarania (tipical music rythm from Paraguay) composed by Emigdio Ayala Báez.

Mi dicha lejana AUDIO FILE

I recorded it placing the mic in a room and singing in another so it sounds like if you were hearing it though a wall or an open door. Theres also ambient sound (some planes and birds) that came from outside my house while I was recording.
It is a love song, possibly it talks about some lost love,,, but it sais so in an epical and very nostalgic way.
I could imagine someone singing that song while being in prison, maybe thinking in a lost relative but also thinking in the lost freedom.  The main lirics in the chorus are "Why should I leave yearning".

Thus the performance should be to place a speaker in a cell (the best preserved as it was originally), tring to hide it behind the cot or something, reproduce de song and videotape it (fixed camera, long shot, one take, no cuts). There's also the posibility to loop it and see what happens if there is people sorrounding that cell.
